From the GM/Golf
Professional:
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you as a new
member to SunLand Golf & Country Club. Providing you with the very
best service in order to make your round of golf an enjoyable one is
our primary goal. My staff and I are committed to conducting a broad
range of golfing activities so that we have something for golfers of
all skill levels to participate in.
The following services are available to all of our members:
Lessons
taught by the PGA Professional as well as experienced assistant
professionals. We have an outstanding Junior Golf Program, Tip
Nights, Men's & Ladies Club Clinics, and the SunLand Golf Academy,
which features a state-of-the-art video analysis system and also a
Vector launch monitor. Compare your swing to PGA or LPGA players.
Your guests are welcome and encouraged.
The golf shop
offers a full range of merchandise at very competitive prices. All
merchandise can be charged to your SunLand account. We also offer
club repair, custom club fitting, reshafting, regripping,
refinishing, and lie angle adjustments.
Our practice
range is one of the best in the northwest. We are committed to
making it even better and providing more service as we grow our
customer base. We offer a wide range of plans to fit your needs
from single bucket purchases, yearly plans, six-month plans for
our snowbirds and a 50 token punch card. We continue to add new
range balls on an annual basis.
The club
offers a wide selection of tournaments and events for men, women
and mixed couples. For more information please refer to your
member's handbook or stop by the golf shop and the golf
professional will be happy to assist you.
As you know, each golf club is somewhat unique as to its policies
concerning starting times and rules. I would like to take this
opportunity to touch on a few that apply at SunLand.
We conduct a
draw Monday and Friday. This is a random draw designed to be
equitable for all. There are two block times and these are subject
to change at certain times of the year. This is a very easy system
to use and the golf professional will assist you in getting to
know how it works.
Tuesday is
reserved for couples play starting at 10AM in the morning.
Wednesday is
Men's day and Thursday is Ladies day. All members may play after
the regularly scheduled groups have teed off.
Saturday and
Sunday are open play days and is our least busy time of the week.
In closing I would like to welcome you again as a new member of
SunLand Golf & Country Club and I hope your golfing experience here
is both fun and enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Tyler Sweet
GM & Golf Professional

SUNLAND MEN'S CLUB
SunLand Golf & Country Club Men's organization welcomes new
members to our SunLand "family. We encourage each new member to join
our social and golfing activities.
The Men's Club Board consists of a men's club captain, assistant
captain, secretary/treasurer, handicap coordinator, and games
coordinator. Their function is to enhance the golfing experience for
all men's club members. These positions are elected annually.
There is the Wednesday game of the week as well as Mixers or
various field day events. Your Men's Club membership entitles you to
participate in these monthly events. In addition, there are many
Home and Away events and a long list of reciprocal golf courses that
you can play. Check at the Clubhouse where current calendars are
posted with all current dates and times.
To join the Men's Club fill out the Golf Activities Dues GHIN
form and submit it along with your check to the Club office. Use
your GHIN number if you have one.
You will be given a local computer number. You must post all of
you 9-hole or 18-hole scores on the computer. It takes five (5)
18-hole rounds to get a USGA handicap. If you need assistance in
using our computer ask any of the golf shop staff.
We look forward to having you participate in all of our Men's
Club events and social functions. We welcome you to our team!!!
If you have any questions please feel free to call or speak to
any Men's Club Board Member. Their names and numbers are posted in
the Clubhouse, and the Captain's name is listed above.
WELCOME
The Men's Club Captain

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MEN'S NINERS
The Men's Niners is open to golfers of any level who only want to play nine holes. Anyone with an established handicap is welcome
in the competition. This group enjoys the weekly competition with
the teams of four playing two low net best balls of four. There is a
reasonable fee imposed to play in the weekly game. Playing in the
nine-hole group allows those who are either physically unable to
play more than nine holes or just don't want to play any more than
that, to get out and enjoy golf. It is believed that some of these
people would not play at all, if the NINERS didn't exist.
Generally, the Niners start play at 11:00AM each Wednesday.
Occasionally, they start at 9:00AM when special events are scheduled
later. During the winter months when the 18-Holers have a shotgun
start at 10:00AM or later due to frost delays, the Niners will start
as soon as possible after the shotgun.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Men's
Niners Captain listed above.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUNLAND WOMEN'S
GOLF ASSOCIATION (SWGA)
The SunLand Women's Golf Association enthusiastically welcomes
all SunLand women golfers. We have a great group of golfers and a
calendar full of activities.
Our season begins March 1 and continues through the end of
October. At the beginning of the season all members are given a
booklet containing a list of the officers and committee chairs for
the year, the membership roster, an event calendar, a description of
the season's competition. In addition, we have our own area on the
SunLand website to highlight current club activities, minutes from
our meetings, and pictures of our members.
Our regular Thursday competition has a fee, which goes entirely
for prize money. Once a month we have a themed tournament where
foursomes are arranged via a draw. This is followed by a no-host
luncheon, which becomes quite a social event. Posters and sign-up
sheets will be prominent on the outside tournament board well in
advance of the tournaments. For the regular Thursday competition,
sign-up sheets are posted a week in advance in the center hall. Our
method of signing up for tee times gives you the opportunity to meet
and play with many different ladies.
Annual dues are established by the vote of the membership. Our
PNGA dues, which include your GHIN, will be billed in January.
In competition, players will receive no higher than a 44 handicap
regardless of the actual handicap. Members in competition must have
a current 18-hole USGA handicap index or must be establishing one.
We sponsor a team that competes with other golf clubs in our
area. There is a team sign up sheet in the center hall. The current
required handicap to participate in team is a 30 index.
For questions, please call the SWGA Captain listed above.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUNLAND LADY
NINERS
Ours is a friendly and supportive group for the new or
experienced golfer.
The season begins the first Thursday of March and continues
through the last Thursday of October. Our tee times start at
11:30AM. Once a month we golf the back nine. Annual dues are
determined each year by the vote of the Niners membership. PNGA
dues, which include your GHIN, are billed in January.
All members who participate in the Ladies Niners must play to no
higher than a 27-course handicap for nine holes.
We have special events throughout the season including golf and
lunch with Dungeness, Peninsula, and Port Ludlow Niners. This is a
great way to play other courses and meet new friends.
Our social functions include our wine & cheese parties and our
autumn Niners Bash.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Lady Niner's
Captain listed above.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUNLAND COUPLES CLUB
The Couples Club conducts 18-hole competitions on Tuesday of each
week from April through September. All members of the Men's Club,
SWGA, and Niners with a current SunLand handicap are eligible to
play. There is an entry fee and the winners receive golf shop
credits.
Women play with a maximum 42 handicap and men play with a maximum
of 38 handicap.
A sign-up sheet is posted in the hallway one week in advance of
each Tuesday's play. You can sign up as a couple so that another
couple can sign up to play with you or two couples can sign up for a
tee time to play together. If you are looking for a partner you can
sign up at the bottom of the sign up sheet. Most competitions are a
best ball format. On the last Tuesday of each month there is a
potluck dinner at the clubhouse, at an additional cost per couple.
The entrée is provided and the participants sign up to bring a dish
of their choice able to serve twelve people. Coffee and ice are
provided. Couples need to bring their own plates, utensils and
beverage.
The highlight of the season is a 2-day Couples Championship
tournament and dinner in September.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Couples
Coordinator listed above.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COUPLES TWILIGHT GOLF
During the summer months a Couples 9-Hole Twilight Scramble is
held, a fun event which gives all a great opportunity to meet new
people. It occurs on five selected Mondays during the months of
June, July, and August. All players need to have a SunLand handicap
to participate. There is a shotgun start at 4:30 p.m. A dinner at
the clubhouse follows play. Each couple brings a potluck dish to
serve 12 people; the main dish is provided by the Twilight Couples
Club. There will be no host bar service available in addition to
coffee and ice water. The entry fee per couple covers the cost of
the main dish and prizes. The field is limited to 36 participants (9
foursomes).
Hope you all have the opportunity to join in the fun! If you have
any questions, please feel free to call the Couple’s Twilight Golf
Coordinator listed above.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOCIAL
Happy Hour is held every Friday from 4:30PM to 6:30PM except for
Good Friday and the day after Thanksgiving.
Steak Night is held the second Thursday of each month. The bar
will open at 4:30PM with light appetizers and dinner at 5:30PM. The
sign-up sheet will be posted the Thursday prior to Steak Night. It
will be removed on Tuesday on Steak Night week.
Throughout the year special events are held including, Bingo
Lunch, Chick Flix, Birthday Bash, Dinner/Movie Nites, special
Dinner/Dance's and other parties as determined by the Social

the social board.
