Captain's Newsletter - September 2011
The 2011 War of the Roses is in the books and the men prevailed 48 to 36 for their second consecutive win. The team captains Ruth Lowe, Carol Patterson and Ken Orth worked hard on the pairings and did a great job. Speaking of Ken Orth, he scored a personal best 75 on Friday. Congratulations' Ken!
The end of the prime golfing weather for the Northwest is approaching and you should plan on playing in the October events. The Super Seniors (70 and up) will be played the 5th and 7th, Men's Fall Field Day the 19th and our Home and Away with Port Ludlow the 25th here and the 26th there.
I neglected to mention that the Men's Club spent $150.00 for food at the Members Appreciation Barbecue plus we supplied the hotdogs that were left over from the Member Guest Tournament. We did it to show are appreciation to all of the members that volunteered to help us to put on a first class event for our members and their guests. Speaking of volunteers, there will be three openings on the Men's Club Executive Board that need to be filled this fall. If you are interested or are asked to serve please consider serving. The time commitment is about two hours a month.
Finally, I don't know if you have noticed but SunLand Golf and Country Club's golf activities get little or no coverage in the Peninsula Daily News. We send them the results of our weekly events but for some reason they neglect to print them while Dungeness, Peninsula and even Skyridge get coverage. If you are a subscriber call their circulation department (360) 452 4507 and tell them that you are a member of SunLand and you would like to see our activities covered in the paper.
