SWGA NEWSLETTER - October 2011
It is difficult to believe that this year is almost over. This is the last article I will be writing as SWGA Captain. It has been an incredible year with support from a wonderful board and an outstanding array of members. Thank you all.
By the time you read this the final General Meeting will have taken place and your new slate of officers will be officially ready to begin their duties in November. I know that you will give them the encouragement and reinforcement that is needed to lead SWGA through 2012.
Congratulations to the Horserace winners! The team of Nadia Saulsbury, Dorene Berard, and Pat Beltz came out ahead. Thanks to all who participated and made it a fun event.
Next year's tournaments have been selected and will need chairs to organize them. The sign-up sheet for tournament chairs was circulated at the General Meeting and I trust all the slots are filled. If not, the sheet will be on the bulletin board in the Ladies Lounge. Some tournaments are run by the Pro Shop and one or two representatives are needed to serve as advisors or to be on the planning committee. These positions are also on the tournament chair sign-up sheet. Responsibilities for these representatives are a little different than chairing an event, but there is a commitment that must be made. All members of SWGA are expected to pitch in and help in at least one event each year. Many hands make light work.
A big thank you to the Lady Niners, who coordinated the Women's Health Benefit Tournament. As I write this, it has not yet happened, but I know it was a well run event. Thank you to Christie Wilson and Judy Kelley for chairing this tournament. Thanks also to Pat Beltz , SWGA's representative to the committee. I trust there was a sizable donation from the ladies for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.
We now look forward to the final event of the year--The Halloween Tournament. This is one of the most fun experiences ever. The committee always works very hard to prepare the greens with spooks and goblins and to decorate for the luncheon. Don't miss this one! We play with the Niners in this one, and we all have a good time.
See you on the course!
